Athens, Georgia restaurant LRG Provisions has entered a relationship with the Sapelo Island Cultural and Revitalization Society (SICARS) to bring Sapelo Island Geechee Red Peas to the plates of Athens. Known for their affinity for Southern ingredients, Provisions began offering the peas in August and they have become a popular specials. The Geechee red peas’ success has prompted request for future orders, hopefully furthering the relationship between the Athens-based restaurant and SICARS.  We’re very pleased with the positive reactions surrounding the Geechee red peas’ introduction to Athens cuisine and are excited to see where this relationship takes us next.
